Ten BRC Wins For DMACK After One-Two In Ulster

• Keith Cronin takes second BRC victory of 2017 after leading from start to finish.
• One-two result for DMACK drivers.
• DMACK’s tenth consecutive BRC win.
• Fredrik Ahlin holds 32-point championship lead.

Demonstrating its continued dominance of UK rallying, DMACK recorded its tenth consecutive victory in the MSA British Rally Championship after Ireland’s Keith Cronin and Mikie Galvin won the Ulster Rally today – their second victory of the season.

In their M-Sport Ford Fiesta R5, the pair led from start to finish to win by 55.4 seconds – keeping their title hopes alive and ensuring DMACK drivers were unbeaten on the last ten events. Cronin won half of the 14 competitive stages across slippery country Tarmac roads around host city Derry to easily fend off challenges from a number of other drivers on rival tyre brands.

Holding a 17-second lead at the half-way mark, Cronin lifted the pace to move over a minute ahead, then cruised home to the finish ramp this afternoon.

Fredrik Ahlin and Torstein Eriksen in their CA1 Sport-prepared Skoda Fabia R5 maintained their grip on the overall championship race after a very strong second place. They finished over a minute ahead of their nearest rival to collect a strong haul of points and edge ever closer to a maiden BRC championship title.

Ahlin now has a 32-point lead with just the double-scoring Rally Isle of Man to come.

Both crews used DMACK’s DMT-RC22 extra soft XS6+ and new wet-patterned DMT-WET during the weekend, which delivered wet, muddy and slippery conditions.

Dick Cormack, DMACK managing director, said: “This has been a special result as once again the drivers and teams we’ve worked so hard with over the season have proved unbeatable, even against all the other major tyre manufacturers. Keith deserved the victory and both he and Fredrik delivered the perfect result on a notoriously difficult event. Ten consecutive unbeaten BRC rallies is a memorable moment for us and our partner teams.”

Keith Cronin, Ulster Rally winner, said: “It’s great to get another victory as it still means we have an outside shot at the championship. We had a good test which meant I was able to get the car set up to my liking. The rally was tough with the weather changing a lot, but we managed to make the right tyre calls when we needed to set the times so it all worked out perfectly.”
