Ketomaa capitulates ahead of Rally Finland

Drive DMACK’s WRC 2 leader Jari Ketomaa will not compete on his home round of the FIA World Rally Championship in Finland next week. Acting on medical advice, Ketomaa will sit out the next event and will be replaced by fellow Finn Jarkko Nikara in the Autotek-run Ford Fiesta R5.

Ketomaa had been troubled by a vision problem that started during Rally Poland. An eye specialist advised that his eye needed time to heal naturally and indicated the damage was most-likely a legacy of his final-day accident on Rally Portugal.

After gaining approval from rally organisers, 29-year-old Nikara will replace Ketomaa for the event and will be co-driven by Kaj Lindstrom.

Jari Ketomaa said: “I’m obviously disappointed to miss my home event, especially knowing we have the pace to win and strengthen our championship lead. But I need to think about the rest of the season and follow the specialist advice to allow the damage to heal. I’m confident Jarkko will do a good job for the team.”
