DMACK Dominates As Evans Wins In Scotland

DMACK dominated the RSAC Scottish Rally after Elfyn Evans and Craig Parry set fastest times on all but one stage to seal a commanding 52-second victory and storm into the lead of the MSA British Rally Championship.

The result is the first overall win for DMACK’s new British-built rally tyres which excelled in the tough Scottish forests to help Evans move into a 20-point lead of the championship at the wheel of his Autotek-run Ford Fiesta R5.

Welshman Evans, from Dolgellau, has now scored victory on two of the four championship rounds and started his attack with an unbeaten run through the opening test in Twiglees. He stormed through the finish line 8.8 seconds ahead of local star David Bogie and extended the lead to 13.3 seconds by the first service halt.

Using DMACK’s new GS61 soft gravel tyre throughout the day, Evans and Parry continued to score fastest times despite having to cope with loose gravel running first on the road.

Leading from start to finish, they cruised through the final stage to seal an emphatic mid-season victory. The finish celebrations in Dumfries saw three different tyre manufacturers on the podium demonstrating the competitive nature of the revived British series.

DMACK drivers again dominated the class battles with Matt Edwards winning the BRC2 category for production cars, Donnie MacDonald coming top in the N6 class and Sindre Furuseth taking honours in the Junior BRC.

DMACK drivers and teams now lead the overall BRC and teams championships along with BRC2, the Junior BRC and the National Rally Cup.

The next event sees a new challenge when the Nicky Grist Stages in July runs as a dual-surface event, with one day on gravel and the next on asphalt.

MSA British Rally Championship for Drivers

2.Fredrik Ahlin / Morton Erik Abrahamsen (Pirelli): 65
3.Tom Cave / James Morgan (Michelin): 56

Elfyn Evans, DMACK British Rally Team driver, said: “This is exactly the result we came here for after some back luck on the last two rounds, and the victory here really gets our championship challenge back on track again. We pushed hard on every stage and it was a great team effort from everyone. I’m looking forward to the Nicky Grist Stages now and it’s a big positive that we can go there back in the championship lead.”

Glenn Patterson, DMACK British Rally Team manager, said: “Victory on the Scottish Rally was exactly what we needed to get the championship challenge reignited. Elfyn and Craig drove a perfect event and we can also celebrate the first win for our new tyres. Once again we’ve seen DMACK drivers across all classes score some fantastic results.”
